There are many different types of hormones that control your daily activities:
A persons sex hormones control your mood and behavior (testosterone and progesterone)
Your growth hormone controls your growth (obviously)
Insulin and Glucagon can raise and lower blood glucose levels
There are 50 unique hormones that control different functions in the body. The story of a hormone goes like this:
1. The hormone gets released from the cell that produced it (secreting cell) and goes to the Hypothalamus or the Anterior Pituitary (A part of the pituitary gland which is closest to the front of your head)
2. If the hormone goes to the Hypothalamus then the Hypothalamus will tell the hormones their "directions" or if the cell goes to the Anterior Pituitary the Anterior Pituitary would get the information from the Hypothalamus and then tell the hormone
3. After that the hormones would travel back to the cell they came from to relay the information. For example the thyroid hormone would travel and relay information to the thyroid gland
4. Finally the hormone would travel to the target cell to relay the last bit of information. Some information might be to speed up or slow down the amount of another hormone
<=== P.S. Target cells are cells that recognize the hormones chemical structure.
